Pen Meets Paper, Finally!

Here is  basic outline of my soon to be novel. Let me know what you think. i am not too sure i’m in love with the ending, but we’ll see later on how it plays out. this is by no means complete, and who knows, may not even remotely resemble the book when its all said and done.

NYC- working as a ?, gets job offer for big $$-the kind you just dont refuse.

-part of job offer involves working in a country thats very poor/high hiv/aids infection rates, limited access to clean drinking water and food.

Africa

-meets with boss and co-workers and begins work

-travels to serengeti for studies and gets separated from group, and attacked by wild animals

-”medicine man” saves her, takes her back to village and brings her back to health

-work colleagues try to find her and hire “americanized” help to search fer her. this help has orders to kill anyone who stands in the way to bring her back.

-village is found and raided

-she escapes with small group of villagers and the medicine man

-travel across the serengeti to capital.

-hired hitmen try to kill her when she protects the villagers she is traveling with.

-she escapes with the villagers to neighboring country

-medicine man grows to hate her for taking him from his homeland and begs to go home.

- she takes him back to tanzania and finds the hitmen still searching for her.

-they capture her and the medicine man\

-torture and kill the medicine man

-they take her back to the us and her boss, who she finds out is trying to destroy the very thing she was hired to save. – thye support the northern highway through the serengeti national park, and need the animals out of the way.

-tanzanian government paid the university big $$ if they could remove the barriers to the building of the highway-to be paid when highway opened

-she capitulates to the university to save her life, they threatened to kill her a’la princess diana in order to get her silence.

-back in africa she meets the head of the wildlife research group and tell him about the big plot

- he believes her and starts to help her

-together they dissolve the university team

-insert american court b.s here-

then they try to tackle the government

-government shuts them down and attempts to pay them off for their silence, they decline, and they flee to maine for their lives.

-they marry in maine, have kids and grandkids

-she tells story to grandkids, who dont believe her.

-government builds highway in the end.*i am debating about having the grandkids not believe her, but then they do when the government shows up on their doorstep and kills them. the family says thats too harsh and they didnt like it.

8-21-2010

writing exercise. write a story based on a song.

pink floyd “welcome to the machine” i wrote it in second person, just for fun.

You turned off the alarm clock, hoping it would just go away. Rolling back the still warm covers, your feet hit the floor to start your day. You head into the bathroom and wash your face. As the cold water drips off your nose, you look up in the mirror to see a man standing behind you. You watch him calmly, staring at you. Suddenly you both run. You turn towards the door and he slams it shut before you can get out. You feel a vague sense of loss and slip into a semi-numb state of conscienceness. You wonder why your arm hurts.

You wake up in the backseat of a white limo. Cold, alone, and naked, you sit up, still groggy from the shot the man in the mirror gave you. On the seat next to you, there is a cellphone. It rings. You pick it up and answer it. It’s Beth, your secretary from work. She tells you to knock on the limo window three times. She sounds normal, as if this is a typical part of your day. You try to tell  her you’ve been drugged and kidnapped, but she’s already hung up. You sit there thinking “What the hell is going on?” and it dawns on you that are are not naked after all, so you knock on the window three times, as instructed. The limo driver pulls over, and lets you out. You find yourself standing in the most beautiful desert you have ever seen. You wonder aloud “How did i get here? It was snowing at home.”  The man in the mirror is next to you. Before you can react the limo pulls away leaving the two of you standing there alone. He introduces himself as Mr. Jack Valencia. He says to you “Welcome my son, Welcome to the machine.” You run.  Sand turns to cement under your feet, and snow begins to fall. You see your office building ahead and run like a madman towards it. Harder and harder your feet hit the pavement as the sky closes in around you. Your office building is gone and you stop, breathing heavily, drenched with sweat, you wonder how you got in a sewer pipe. You hear rats scurrying, copiers running, phones ringing. You are in your office after all.  Your secretary Beth asks you “Where have you been?” as if she hadn’t spoken to you already that morning. You stare at her blankly, and she winks at you saying “It’s alright, we know where you’ve been.”  You go to your office and sit down in front of your computer and boot it up.  Sitting there waiting for you is the man, Mr. Jack Valencia again.  He says to you, “you’ve been in the pipeline filling in time, provided with toys and scouting for boys. You bought a guitar to punish your Ma.” “Who are you?” you demand. He looks at you as if you are a simpleminded idiot and stands up. Your boss walks in, unfazed by the mysterious visitor in your office. He demands to know why you are late for work. The man behind him says “and you didnt like school, and you know you’re nobody’s fool.” You blink, as your boss is unaware of the man, now standing beside you says “so Welcome to the machine.”  You stammer out something to the effect of having strange dreams and not sleeping well, and suddenly the room lurches and grows dark, and you collapse into the chair. Your boss starts looking like the man, Mr. Jack Valencia, and suddenly the two men are the same. He says to you “what did you dream? It’s alright, we told you what to dream.” The world fades to black and you hear Beth whisper in your ear “you dreamed of a big star, he played a mean guitar. He always are in the Steak Bar. He loved to drive his Jaguar.”

You turned off the alarm clock, hoping it would just go away.  Rolling back the still warm covers, your feet hit the floor to start another day. You head into the bathroom and wash your face. As the cold water drips off the end of your nose, you look into the mirror and say to your reflection “so Welcome to the machine.”

by any stretch of the imagination, i dont think this is anywhere near my best, but it got the creative juices flowing, as intended. i see lots of room for expansion of the story, and further development of the characters and setting. Maybe i will do that for a future creative writing session. we’ll see. i also know its not 100% grammatically correct, but for it’s purpose, i dont really care. thats what they have editors for right? LOL i can address that later as well. enjoy it for what it is. :)

new adventure.

i have always dreamed of wring a novel. so i asked for  (and got) a digital voice recorder for my birthday, and just bought a bunch of 5 subject notebooks to write in. (thank goodness for back to school sales) i am not 100% sure what i am going to write about, but i have a few ideas to get me started. i know when i hit on the book, it will just pour out of me, thats how my writing usually happens.

maybe i’ll preview some of my writing here.  keep checking back!! (and for my fb friends, shhhh, not everyone knows about this!-not yet anyway)

damn, i’m gonna have to learn how to type with capital letters now.. should be fun….

holy i forgot to update!!

wow.. its been forever. lets see. i moved in the middle of august, rented a 4 bedroom 2 bath house on 3 acres with my mom, and we are just about settled in. YAY!! i am still fluttering around, but slowly getting unpacked. YAY for me! we are gearing up for birthday parties, and my mom is driving (maybe) to georgia to see my brother, but with the recent flooding in atlanta we are not sure what shes doing.

i am currently coming down with something, hopefully its not the flu and is just a plain ol’ sinus infection. i go for a checkup on the 30th anyway so if i still feel like crud i will take care if it then.

nothing super exciting around here, just. unpacking and setting up stuff in the new place.  catch ya all later :)

MOnday June 8, 2009

WOW it’s been FOREVER since i updated. LOL *sorry*
lets see.. what has been going on.
still not smoking. it’ll be 4 months on the 22nd GO ME!!
audrey has learned several new words, at a HIGH rate, about 1 new word a day. so far we have (these are just in the past week or so)
EW
bath
bye bye
ok
dirty
daddy
i’m sure there are a few more but mommy brain is kicking in and i cant remember.

i have mostly solid routines for the house now. some days (like today) i crap out and dont wanna but i can get back to sparkly in about an hour, usually.

my MIL is visiting from florida, and she stayed the weekend, and i was *REALLY* happy with most of the house while she was here.  so GO ME for that.

my SIL is getting married in about 2 weeks, and i have to make my dress for that but i got some beautiful periwinkle fabric, and found a free pattern online, so YAY cheapest bridesmaid dress EVER!! i think the fabric was about 20 bucks, and maybe 3 for the zipper. :)

its late tonight, so tomorrow i have to do my routines in the am and finish the laundry. might have to go to the laundromat to dry, *fun…* but audrey needs her diapers. although i think if i have to hang them she’ll have enough already dry to not have to go. takes 2 hours and i really hate doing it.

ok so:
routines
make new thing for poster
start on chrissy’s second dipe
go through audreys toys in the living room before we turn into a toy store LOL
and otherwise just keeping up with the kiddos.

see ya…. someday when i remember to come back and update. HA

tuesday troubles. well.. not really troubles..

i have been a busy busy girl the past few days. yesterday i did 15 minutes on the computer, and 15 minutes off the computer. i really really didnt want to do anything, so i thought if i can just do for 15, then i can sit for a bit. i kept it up almost all day, and i got TONS done. YAY!!> dh was happy when he saw my list of things i had done. plus he knew the taking care of baby stuff wasnt on there, so i did more than what he read.  GO ME!

its late on tuesday, but tomorrow i have mega sewing to do. i just have to put snaps on 2 dipes, and then 2 more to sew for this order. it WILL go out by saturday. hopefully in time for the mail lady. shes been coming REALLY early lately though. so i might run it to the post office if shes here before i am ready. if i was smart, i’d get off this computer and get the dipe i was working on today ready for snaps, and then when i get up in the am i can put snaps on it. then start the next one.
my poor fingers hurt after putting on 20+ snaps per diaper. oh woe is me lol. i’ll live. ain’t no snap gonna keep me down.

ok.. that was bad. i am slap happy tired.  not good. i think i will go set up the coffee maker to brew right when the alarm goes off. i love it when i remember to do that. wake up to coffee aroma. mmm…

ok.. so for the next hour or so, i have to:
set up cffee maker
sew.
    close back at waist
turn and topstitch back at waist

lay out tomorrows clothes
allergy meds
set alarm (hoping if i type it i’ll remember to do it lol)
fall into bed and be asleep before my head hits the pillow.

tomorrow first thing.. drink coffee. i’ll need to dilute my blood with coffee before i can even THINK about snaps.

eat
mark for snaps
put ON the snaps
sew front of dipes closed
take pics of dipes
maybe take a short nap?? have to see what the baby is doing at that point.
get some stuff done around the house
fold clothes
put away clothes
clean potty
do lots of wash, gonna be a nice day to hang clothes out, gotta do at least 3 loads, rain coming day after tomorrow.
vacuum
rag mop floor
and start another dipe. possibly getting it to the point of no sew till snaps. lol.

i will be doing loads of wash all day. i hope i can get some done really early and they can be outside allll day and smell sooo good. i hung out 3 loads today and they smelled SO good. mommy buried her nose in audrey’s shirt lol.

yay for clotheslines!!

3-16-09

wow.. i havent updated in awhile.

i am still not smoking, YAY, although i stopped taking the chantix.  it was making me moody, and just not myself, but i made it 17 days not smoking with the meds, so hopefully i got far enough with it to be ok without it. and if not i can always go back to the dr and see what we can do.

lets see.. to do list today.
audrey is sick, been running a temp and has a horrible cold and just in gemeral feels like dog poo. so i will be busy with her.
i have sewing to do too.
and thats pretty much it.
i am caught up on dishes, and the dipes are in the washer now, so i can do that while i sew.
i think i have some dishes to put away.. the big stuff that i always have to fight with to get in there, soi tend to put it off.. but i need my kitchen table, so i have to now lol.  nothing like procrastinating.

so..
see to audreykins
finish washing dipes
sew
mic is here till 8, so dinner, real food
the rest of the house will have to sit and wait for now. i will just maintain. i HAVE to get my sewing done.

it’s the end of a nice quiet day.. Tuesday 2-17-09

i busted my hiney today. i did 15 minutes in the living room just doing random cleaning and picking up, and it made a HUGE difference, and i spent about a hlaf hour working in the girls closet.. it was bad.. socks falling out everywhere, had to move stuff around to get anything, but it looks GREAT now!! i can grab a crib sheet without knocking over a basket of socks and a basket of various baby things (nail trimmer, hairbrush, nose sucker)  MUCH better. and i got rid of a ton of things i wasnt using, like stained crib sheets (she had reflux as a lil baby) a million bibs, burpcloths, and all kinds of things. i had 3 dollar store packages of washcloths, all unopened, sent those to goodwill. and quite a few blankets too. and i found some blankets i can use to make her dipes with. she is almost ready for the next size up, so maybe i will start on those in march,. i have some other sewing to get done first.

so today i have yet to:
make dinner
make brownies (mic earned dessert by filling up one of her charts)
clean up kitchen/dinner dishes
mic has to sweep the kitchen floor
quick vacuum
and durn it i want a bath tonight.

monday 2-16-09

well, its been awhile since i updated, i didnt forget my loyal fans its been kinda busy here, between the last of the stomach bug, and i had to re-arrange the girls room yesterday. i dont like where the furniture is, but it doesnt look bad, i just dont care for it. guess i’ll get used to it.

off to a rolling start today, got the kitchen 90% picked up, still need to do the floor. girls room needs some love from the baby pulling out her toys, but thats a 2 minute fix, no biggie. i have a small amount of paperwork and phone calls to make, and a handful of things to shred. stupid junk mail. i have the radio going, and one of my favorite songs just came on.. sweet.. gonna have to turn that up lol.

i really need to dig in the girls closet and get rid of stuff we arent using any more, like the 20 burp cloths. lol i dont need that many for her anymore. i dread it though.. i need to keep in mind how much nicer it will be when i do it, but i still dont wanna lol.. someone give me a kick in the rear and get me moving.

hopefully i  can get most everything done before i leave to go shopping, i need food and a new keyboard. i am using one from my neighbors, the baby spilled my iced tea on the old one and killed it.  i like it though, and i found office max has one on sale the same one so i am going to go get it and give my neighbor her keyboard back.. lol.. half the keys are typed off.. good thing i know where they are.

ok.. enough goofing off on the computer, and back to work. gotta keep my momentum going. wait…. i had momentum? when??
